CIMC Enric delivers first batch of 30 MPa marine hydrogen fuel storage tanks to Europe

2021-11-03

(3 Nov 2021 – Hong Kong) - CIMC Enric Holdings Limited (“CIMC Enric” or “the Company”) together with its subsidiaries (the "Group") (Stock Code: 3899.HK) today announced the successful delivery of its first batch of 30 MPa carbon fibre wrapping hydrogen fuel tank for vessel to Europe. The breakthrough shipment was made by the Group’s subsidiary, Shijiazhuang Enric Gas Equipment Company Limited ("Shijiazhuang Enric") and the product  has broad market prospects for hydrogen fuel in marine scenarios.

Shijiazhuang Enric, a member of CIMC Enric's key hydrogen business, is a leader in hydrogen storage and distribution in China, with over 20 years’ experience in the industry and the owner of advanced technology in the field of high-pressure hydrogen storage and distribution. After more than two years in research and development, the hydrogen carbon fibre wrapping hydrogen fuel tank for vessel with dual advantages of light weight and high distribution efficiency has been successfully mass produced. The product delivered was customized for a world-renowned European hydrogen production and operation customer for maritime and inland waterways transportation vessels, and has received certification from both Bureau Veritas and Lloyd's Register.

Conversion into hydrogen fuel is an important element in future maritime transportation for industries like steel and cement, as it is estimated that they contributes more than 10% of the world's total carbon emissions of transportation industry due to long traveling distances, large haulage capacity and slow progress towards electric power. Currently, global high-pressure hydrogen storage technology is quite mature and most hydrogen fuel cell vehicles on land are equipped with high-pressure hydrogen cylinders. These high-pressure hydrogen  storage applications will also be widely used as the maritime transportation industry upgrades fleets to run on new energy.

Mr. Yang Xiaohu, Executive Director and General Manager of CIMC Enric, said, “The successful delivery of carbon fibre wrapping hydrogen fuel tank for vessel underpins the Group's strength in marine hydrogen fuel storage and distribution technology. The certification of custom-made hydrogen fuel storage equipment by world-renowned classification societies is strong recognition of the Group's marine hydrogen fuel technology excellence. As the world becomes increasingly concerned about energy transformation and climate change, hydrogen energy will be an important new energy source. The Company will continue to leverage its advantages through the entire chain of onshore and offshore hydrogen to promote the development of new energy.”
