Green hydrogen project expedites implementation
Demand for hydrogen storage spherical tanks skyrockets

("CIMC Hydrogen")CIMC Hydrogen Energy Ammonia -Hydrogen Division, has been awarded the EPC project of hydrogen storage facility for China Huadian Corporation’s hydrogen production project in Baotou Damao CountyBanner (“China Huadian Inner Mongolia Green Hydrogen Project” or “the Project”). This milestone project marks Inner Mongolia’s first medium pressure spherical tank hydrogen storage initiative and the first green hydrogen project to feature a hydrogen spherical tank tender this year. CIMC Hydrogen’s exceptional capabilities in providing integrated solutions for large-scale green hydrogen production, storage and transportation have positioned it as the preferred choice for this project. The EPC project of hydrogen storage facilityproject is expected to be delivered within the year and establishes a benchmark for comprehensive applications of large-scale renewable energy hydrogen production and integrated hydrogen storage in China.
This Pproject is one of the first large-scale renewable production ofenergy green hydrogen production demonstration projects in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It plays a significant role in Baotou’s efforts to strengthen ecological civilization construction and expedite green, low-carbon and high-quality development. With a total installed capacity of 200,000 kW, the project includes the construction of 120,000 kW of wind energy and 80,000 kW of photovoltaic power generation, with over 80% of the scenic power generation dedicated to hydrogen production. The annual output of green hydrogen is expected to reach 7,800 tons. CIMC Hydrogen Ammonia-Hydrogen DivisionCIMC Hydrogen Energy Ammonia Division provides a top-tier integrated solution for the large-scale green hydrogen storage project, overseeing its complete planning, design and construction. This includes the manufacturing and installation of six 1500m³ hydrogen spherical tanks and necessary supporting equipment such as liquid nitrogen tanks and vaporizers.
Industry data shows an acceleration in green hydrogen projects this year, with nearly 20 green hydrogen projects tendered for electrolytic tanks, totaling over 1,100MW in scale. Additionally, 16 scenic wind & solar energy hydrogen production and hydrogen storage integration projects have been launched, representing an annual hydrogen capacity of about 300,000 tons. Furthermore, 2 green hydrogen projects with capacities exceeding 10,000 tons have already commenced operations. This surge in projects is expected to drive a substantial increase in demand for hydrogen storage spherical tanks. Inner Mongolia, renowned for its rich coal, wind and solar energy and scenic resources, has emerged as a leading region for hydrogen energy industry investment in recent years. To date, 37 green hydrogen projects have been approved in the region, with a combined investment surpassing RMB160 billion. These projects aim to achieve a planned combined capacity of 650,000 tons, with about 20,000 tons set to be achieved operational this year, assisting . Inner Mongolia to be’s strides towards becoming a hub for the green hydrogen industry, also setting serve as a powerful demonstration of the nation’s hydrogen energy industry and technology development.
